12 teachers of Singpora School suspended for leaving school to offer condolences during working hours
Authorities have suspended the entire staff of a middle school in District Baramulla for remaining away during duty hours and closing the school unathorisedly. Nearly twelve staff members including the headmaster Of Government Middle School Khanpaith in Singhpora, Pattan were put under immediate suspension after locals complained about the closure of the school at 11.30 am.
RNA has learnt that the staff had gone to offer condolences to a colleague whose father had died. They however left the children unattended in the ground and locked up the building prompting parents of the children to raise hue and cry.
Zonal Education Officer Singhpora Mohammad Syed Khan told that he received calls from the locals and the concerned Tehsildar after which he rushed to the spot where he found school closed and children roaming around in open. He said pending enquiry all the staff members have been put under immediate suspension.
According to ZEO, the staff had not informed his office before leaving the school which was a sheer indiscipline and amounts to ‘absence from duty’.
Mr. Khan further told that the staff has been suspended for remaining absent from the duty unauthorizedly and keeping the school closed during working hours. (RNA)
